
AllWhites Egg Whites at the HyVee Tri
The 2012 Annual HyVee Triathlon in Des Moines, Iowa is one of the premier athletic events in the state. The event has raised $750,000 for Variety headed into this year’s event. The triathlon emphasizes Hy-Vee’s ongoing effort to promote good health and nutrition though a wider selection of organic foods, trained dietitians to help consumers with menu planning, health fairs, and other internal and community affairs.
In 2007 Des Moines hosted the first-ever Hy-Vee ITU World Cup Triathlon. Des Moines was one of only four U.S. cities to host a prestigious world cup event at the time. The event had the most generous purses ever which put Iowa on the international multi-sport map. The triathlon and amateur event attracted more than 2,000 athletes, 10,000 spectators and raised $250,000 for charity. Today, the triathlon is a huge success each year.
HyVee 5150 U.S. Championship Age Group Elite Qualifying Standards
- All 5150 events will have an Age Group Elite category.
- To be eligible for the Age Group Elite category, athletes must furnish proof of completing an international distance event (1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run) during 2010 or 2011, with a time below 2:15 for men and below 2:30 for women.
- Top 10 in Age Group Elite category at each of the 5150 qualifying events, qualifies for the Age Group Elite category for the Hy-Vee Triathlon 5150 U.S. Championship.
- Top Male and Female Age Group Elites at the Championship event will be the recipient of a Mini Cooper* + $5,150 in additional product/prizes.
